How Donations are Distributed

The 2009 collection enabled the National Religious Retirement Office to distribute over $23 million in Direct Care Assistance (formerly Basic Grants) to 477 religious institutes. An average of $670 was awarded for every sister, brother, and religious order priest past age 70.

In 2009, $416,588.00 was distributed to 11 religious communities in the form of Planning Assistance. Awards ranged from $6,313.00 to $80,000.00. Additionally, three communities received a total of $580,000.00 in the form of Implementation Assistance. Awards ranged from $80,000.00 to $250,000.00.

Management and Continuing Education Assistance helped support financial forecasting, strategic planning, workshop participation, and continuing education related to financial management, development, and elder care. The NRRO distributed $61,957 in Management and Continuing Education Assistance during 2009.
